Sony VAIO PCV-RX270DS (2000)

Quite a lovely system! I love the unique form it has overall, between the color scheme and the shape of it.

As you’ll see, my unit has a missing faceplate for the secondary optical drive. That optical drive’s tray mechanism was screwed up from someone yanking the thing, but simply opening up the drive to relocate the gear got it all working fine n’ dandy. The door for the ports down below is also absent, but that doesn’t matter.

Aside from that, the system only needed a fresh clock battery, a replacement RAM stick, and a hard drive to get going. Though the monitor, keyboard and mouse I have below are from 2005, I posted & sold this as a complete Sony-brand bundle that still looks pretty cool!

Specifications:

  • CPU: Intel Pentium III 866 MHz
  • RAM: 384MB SDRAM
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce2 MX
  • HDD: Quantum Fireball 60GB
