Motion Computing M1400

My fun little drawing tablet! It was a freebie, and all it really needed was a new hard drive as the one inside was very far south! It was making some LOUD sounds, enough that I thought it was a failing fan…only to find out, the system’s fanless! I attempted to copy its original XP Tablet Edition install in its entirety, but I kept having BSODs. According to the data within, the system hadn’t been used since late-2005!

In lieu of this, I attempted Windows 7 installation so I could use FireAlpaca – my preferred drawing app – and it’s been working happily since. Well, other than the battery, because that is history!

Specs:

  • HDD: IBM 40GB 4200RPM HDD (formerly: Toshiba 30GB 4200RPM)
  • OS: Windows 7 32-bit (formerly: XP Tablet Edition)
